A 90-second trailer for the next Pokémon film has premiered but only for Japanese-speaking fans.
Film 17 of the Pokémon franchise, unofficially titled The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie, features a new legendary Pokémon not yet available for the sixth-generation games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Diancie is the newest legendary Pokémon from the Kalos region and will make its debut in the film. Known as the Jewel Pokémon, Diancie is discovered to be a "sudden transformation" of the non-legendary Pokémon Carbink. Diancie, however, is not an evolution or Mega Evolution of Carbink despite sharing the same types -- Rock and Fairy.
In the new trailer, the video starts by showing large crystals followed by the pink diamonds of Diancie. The main protagonists of the Kalos adventure -- Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, Bonnie, Clemont, and Serena -- are then shown entering the cave where Dianice rests. The cave may also be home to an unknown number of Carbink.
Next, the legendary Xerneas is shown. Two mysterious characters are shown as a Delphox, Mega Absol, and Mega Scizor appear and attack. Yveltal emerges from a mountainside and is later seen preparing to attack Xerneas.
Hints of Team Rocket or Team Flare appearing in the film were not teased in the trailer.
According to a Bulbapedia, Diancie is the princess of a country that hosts the new movie's location. A huge diamond is located in the country known as the "Holy Diamond," and it bares "an important energy source." The source of the diamond is Diancie, but she lost control of it. Diancie reportedly will seek the help of Xerneas, known as the Life Pokémon, to save the country. Yveltal, known as the Destruction Pokémon, emerges, but it is unknown what role the dual Dark-and-Flying-type Pokémon will have.
The film is set to be released in Japan on July 19. U.S. viewers will likely to see the official dubbed version on Cartoon Network by October or November this year. The last Pokémon film, Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened, premiered in Japan on July 13, 2013, and made its U.S. debut on Oct. 19.

Diancie has been confirmed for the Pokémon X and Y games. Although it is unknown how or when gamers will obtain Diancie, the Jewel Pokémon has the Clear Body Ability, which prevents stat reductions caused by another Pokémon. In regards to moves, five have been confirmed for Diancie. The Jewel Pokémon is capable of learning Calm Mind, Dazzling Gleam, Explosion, Hyper Beam, and Power Gem.
